Cell Metabolism and Skin Health: When the fuel of our cells becomes a therapeutic lever

4 November 2026 17.00 19.00

Wednesday, 4 November 2026 | 17.00 - 19.00 | Presential or remote – Cocktail at the end of the meeting

On the occasion of White Card to ScienceThe National Association of Research and Technology (ANRT) gives the floor to Anne-Laure Bulteau, Scientific Coordinator at LVMH Researchto explore the links between cellular metabolism, aging and skin health.

When cell metabolism becomes a lever of innovation

How do cells use their energy resources? And how can these mechanisms become levers to better understand and act on pathologies, aging or skin health?

This meeting will be based in particular on Two discoveries from CIFRE theses conducted jointly by LVMH Research and Inserm teams.

The first concerns the effects of hyperglycaemia on the energy functioning of skin cells and in particular on mitochondria activity. This work has helped to identify GDF15 protein as a pathway likely to limit some harmful effects of excess sugar on cells and skin tissues.

The second is interested in Natural Killer immune cells (NK), whose activity depends in particular on pyruvate, a specific cell fuel. Increasing its availability could enhance their activity and survival, opening up prospects for anti-cancer immunotherapy and for understanding skin aging.

This research illustrates how how cells use their energy resources can become a lever of innovation, at the crossroads of medicine, immunology and cosmetics.

Who is this meeting for?

This meeting is aimed in particular at researchers and research teams, companies and innovation actors, as well as professionals interested in the links between research, health, cosmetics and innovation.

It may be of particular interest to actors working on the cell metabolism, life sciences, immunology, aging, skin health scientific applications in the cosmetics sector.

About « White Cards to Science »

The « White Cards to Science » give the floor to researchers at the academic and socio-economic sector. These meetings are designed as spaces for discovery and circulation of ideas, fostering dialogue between disciplines and exchanges around innovations, their uses, scientific uncertainties and the relationship between science and society.

With Anne-Laure Bulteau

Anne-Laure Bulteau, scientific coordinator at LVMH Research, is a biochemist of training. After a course in academic research, especially at the CNRS and at the Institute of Functional Genomics in Lyon, she joined LVMH Research in 2020, where she worked on stem cell physiology.

His research includes protein oxidation, mitochondrial physiology and oxidative stress. She is the author of over 80 scientific publications and has received several awards for her work.
